Most of the rare materials was collected right in the building yard, re-using for the impasto broken stones and marbles, no more useful for the building. This shows how even that time there was a special care for avoiding waste, trying to lessen the building costs.
Any stucco decorator Master was a major expert in building materials. To correctly choose the materials appropriate to that geographic area and basic structure to which the plaster was applied could grant a stable quality along the time either of the building and of the 'wall decoration'.
Trough the time and along the living models evolution, also the meaning of the expression 'Venetian stuccowork' evolved, and enlarged and changed up to reach the modern meaning that we will explore during the next pages.
This language evolution actually followed the building styles and applications of the art to architecture.
It is important to notice how different ancient patrician houses, churches and castles are from the modern homes. Already at the end of '700, beginning '800 even the beautiful Venice they started to use for 'personal living' purposes also those spaces, such as mezzanine, traditionally intended for servants.
