This term is mostly spreaded in Italy and in all those countries where Italian art and culture have been exported. The French themselves call this art 'stuc romain' (Roman Stucco).
Venice represents without any doubt the cradle of Venetian (or Roman as you like) stuccowork art, and it is the city that keeps its largest artistic and cultural patrimony. Venice represented and still represents the center of this art; Venetian stucco decorator Masters have been able to receive and keep unchanged the great heritage received from beautiful Roman civilization. They organized schools, the had the longest stucco decorator Masters array, and 'adopted' all the stucco decorator artists who, even if not Venetian fro birth become such for artistic spirit. A wide stucco utilization (both for interiors and exteriors) in Venice enable us to still enjoy the beauty of this city that, well separed from sea water, saltiness and humidity 'attacks', keeps unaltered its glamour, its dreams atmosphere, its colors and the spirit from all the artists who came by to give us great emotions.
